The Finance Committee is defined by chapter 2.40 of Braintree's bylaws.

Membership and Qualifications:

The finance committee shall consist of fifteen (15) voters appointed by the Moderator.

No person who is an elected officer of the town, except town meeting members, or a
member of any board of the town receiving pay there from or any appointive employee
of the town, shall be qualified to serve as a member of the finance committee.

No member of the Finance Committee shall serve on any other committee of the town,
except the capital planning committee.

Consideration of Questions:
The finance committee may consider any and all municipal questions for the purpose
of making recommendations to the town, to any town board, officer or committee relative
to such matters.

Consideration of Expenditures, Hearings, Reports:

Whenever the warrant for any town meeting contains an article or articles under which an
appropriation or expenditure of money or disposal of any of the property of the town may
be made, the finance committee shall consider such articles after giving one or more public
hearings and shall report in print its recommendations to the town meeting.
