Monday, February 20 is Presidents’ Day. Trash & Recycling collection will be delayed one day. Trash collection will be Tuesday through Saturday.




Curbside Collection Services

Weekly Automated Trash/Recycling Collection Program


  • Please have carts curbside by 7:00 am placed 2 ft. apart, with handles facing house.
  • Cart lids must be closed so trucks can operate safely.
  • Carts should be 2-3 ft. apart (also same distance from furniture) and in a place with at least 12 ft. overhead clearance.
  • Only the Town issued carts can be used. No extra bags, boxes or barrels will be picked up.

TRASH - Weekly Curbside Additional Trash Pickup

  • 2 Bulky/Large Items are allowed per week (No Need to Call).  This includes:
    • Furniture (mattress & box spring are considered one piece) & Appliances*
    •  3 bundles of Carpet/Wood (no tree branches) must be cut into 3-4 ft. lengths and tied
    •  Lawnmowers (no gas in tank) and Grills (propane tank removed – cannot collect curbside)
    • *APPLIANCES - Must call to arrange for pickup of Appliances (refrigerators, stoves, water heaters, air conditioners, etc.) Call Sunrise Scavenger at least 2-3 working days prior to your trash day @ 617-361-8000.  If calling after office hours, leave your address, inclusive of “Braintree” & give the day of the week that your trash is collected & what item(s) you are putting out for pickup.
  • TV’S AND COMPUTER MONITORS ARE NOT COLLECTED CURBSIDE and are NOT ACCEPTED at the Drop-Off Center.  TV’s are considered Hazardous Waste and can be disposed of at the semi-annual Household Hazardous Waste Day.  There are many places to dispose of TV’s such as Best Buy, Clean harbors, Willards Disposal Service, etc.

RECYCLING - Weekly Curbside Recycling Pickup

Curbside pickup of recycling is done weekly on your regular trash day.
Please do not use any plastic bags in recycling carts! Plastic bags can be recycled at supermarkets, no matter where they came from, even dry cleaning bags, or any other type of plastic bag. All recycling material must be in the cart.  Please cut boxes to fit.

Aluminum, foil, Tin and steel cans & lids (rinsed)
Flattened Cardboard Boxes (must fit in carts)
Newspapers, including inserts, Mail, Envelopes of all types, Cardboard
Paper Bags, Paperback Books, Telephone Books, & Magazines
Junk Mail, Brochures, Flyers, & Catalogues & Books (with hard covers removed)
Office Paper, Envelopes, File & Pendaflex Folders
Cereal, Shoe, Pasta, & Cracker Boxes, etc., (remove liners)
Milk & Juice Cartons, boxes
EMPTY food, paint and cosmetic aerosol cans (remove plastic lid)
Glass Bottles & Jars (all colors)
All Plastics Containers (Numbered 1-7)(Milk Jugs, Bleach, Detergent & Shampoo Bottles
Soda, Juice, Water Bottles (glass or plastic)

Curbside Yard Waste

  • Christmas trees – Weeks of January 1st and 8th. No decorations or plastic bagging please. After that please drop off at compost site. Compost site, 225 Plain Street is open through January, 7:15 AM - 2:45 PM, Wednesday - Sunday. Sticker required.

Holiday Schedule For Trash & Recycling Collection

Whenever a scheduled collection day falls on a holiday, that day's collection and all remaining collections for the week will be delayed one day. Friday's collection will be on Saturday. Holidays falling on Saturday do not change the schedule. Holidays falling on a Sunday will result in a one day delay, as Sunday holidays are celebrated on Monday.

Holidays - No Trash Service (one day delay following the holiday.)
New Years, ML King Day, President's Day, Patriot's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veteran's Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.

Christmas Trees: Curbside Pickup scheduled for weeks of January 1st and week of January 8th, ONLY otherwise drop off at the Compost Site open through January 28th.
